  • Nothing is uploaded
  • Processed in your browser
  • Free
  • No sign-up
  • Exports to CSV and Excel

This converter turns a .vcf contacts file into a spreadsheet with one row per contact. It reads vCard 2.1, 3.0 and 4.0 files from phones and email apps, and downloads CSV or Excel. Nothing is uploaded: it runs in your browser.

How do I convert a VCF file to CSV or Excel?

  1. Add your file

Drop your .vcf file onto the box above, or tap Choose files. You can add several files at once.

  2. Check the preview

Every contact is one row, and every detail has its own column.

  3. Pick your columns

Open Choose columns and keep only the details you need.

  4. Download

Tap Download CSV or Download Excel. The file is saved to your device.

How do I export a VCF file from my phone or email?

Already have a .vcf file? Skip ahead. If not, here's how to export one.

From an iPhone

  1. Open the Contacts app and tap Lists at the top left.
  2. Touch and hold a list, such as All Contacts, then tap Export.
  3. Choose which details to include, then tap Done.
  4. Tap Save to Files, then open this page in Safari and choose the file.

From iCloud on a computer

  1. Sign in at icloud.com/contacts.
  2. Select the Actions button at the top of the contacts list, then Select All Contacts.
  3. Select the Share button, then Export vCard. All selected contacts are saved in one file.

From an Android phone (Google Contacts app)

  1. Open the Contacts app and tap Fix & manage at the bottom.
  2. Tap Export to file and pick the account or accounts to export.
  3. Tap Export to .VCF file, choose where to save it, then pick it here.

Other contacts apps, such as the one on Samsung phones, also have an export option, but the menu names differ.

From Google Contacts on a computer

  1. Open contacts.google.com.
  2. Tick one contact, then use Selection actions and choose All.
  3. Open More actions at the top right, then Export.
  4. Choose the vCard format, click Export, then pick the file here.

From Outlook

Outlook exports contacts only as a CSV file, which is already a spreadsheet, so you don't need this converter for it. Open it in Excel or Google Sheets directly. To export: in Outlook on the web or the new Outlook, open People, thenExport contacts.

If someone emailed you a contact card, save the .vcf attachment and pick it here.

What does the spreadsheet look like?

You get a spreadsheet with one row per contact and one column per detail. People with several phone numbers or emails get numbered columns (Phone 1, Phone 2…), each with a label column (Mobile, Work…).

  • Names: full name, first, middle and last name, prefix, suffix, nickname
  • Phones and emails with their labels
  • Addresses as one line, or split into street, city, region, postal code and country
  • Work: company, department, job title, role
  • Other: birthday, anniversary, websites, notes, groups

What can’t the VCF to CSV Converter do?

  • It can’t read contacts straight from your phone or online account. Export a .vcf file first (see the steps above).
  • Contact photos are left out, because a spreadsheet cell can’t hold an image.
  • Up to 10 phone numbers, emails, addresses and websites per contact become columns. Any beyond 10 are left out.
  • Instant-messaging and social-profile fields are not included.
  • It doesn’t merge or remove duplicate contacts.
  • It doesn’t convert a spreadsheet back into a .vcf file.
  • It can’t open zipped exports. Unzip the file first.
  • Files over 300 MB in total can’t be opened in one go. Add fewer files at a time.

What if the conversion doesn’t work?

"This doesn't look like a contacts file"

The file has no contacts in it. Check that it ends in .vcf. If you have a .csv file, it is already a spreadsheet: open it in Excel or Google Sheets.

"This is a zip file"

Some exports come zipped. Unzip the file first, then add the .vcf file that was inside.

Names show as é, =C3=A9 or question marks

The converter repairs most of these automatically and says how many it fixed. If some remain, the file was probably damaged when it was first saved. Try exporting it again from the original phone or app.

Nothing happens when I tap "Choose files" on iPhone

If the file is stored in iCloud Drive, your iPhone may need to download it first. Open the file once in the Files app, then choose it again.

Excel shows phone numbers like 4.47E+11

This happens when Excel opens a CSV. Download the Excel version instead, which keeps numbers as text.

The page is slow with a huge file

Files full of contact photos can be hundreds of megabytes. On a phone, close other tabs, or use a computer.

Frequently asked questions

Is my contacts file uploaded anywhere?

No. Nothing is uploaded: your browser reads the file and builds the spreadsheet on your device. See how to check this yourself.

Should I download CSV or Excel?

Pick Excel if you will open the file in Excel: phone numbers keep their + sign and leading zeros. Pick CSV for Google Sheets, Numbers, or importing into another app or CRM.

Why are some names showing strange characters?

Older phones often saved contacts in a different text encoding. The converter detects this, repairs most names automatically, and tells you how many it fixed. If a name still looks wrong, tell us which phone exported the file.

What happens to contact photos?

They are left out, because a spreadsheet cell can’t hold a photo. Names, numbers, emails, addresses, birthdays and notes are all kept.

Can I convert several VCF files into one spreadsheet?

Yes. Add all the files at once, or add more with Add files. All contacts end up in one table and one download.

Is there a limit on the number of contacts?

There is no contact limit. Files up to 300 MB in total work in most browsers. Tens of thousands of contacts preview smoothly, even on a phone.

Which vCard versions are supported?

vCard 2.1, 3.0 and 4.0. Together these cover files from current phones, email apps and older phones.
